Data Management System for Oil and Gas Industry
This product addresses the challenges being faced by E&P data managers to collect, find, edit, manage, and transfer data quickly and easily through a web-portal which can provide the right information to the right people at the right time in support of their business processes. It is fully integrated with Geographic Information System (GIS) capabilities and is accessible to geoscientists and other stakeholders. It addresses the common problem of identifying and visualizing data within the E&P organization and works across multiple heterogeneous data stores

Roles and Responsibilities
- Take the vague requirements from the stakeholders
- Explore the possibilities
- Provide a direction to the requirement
- Strat futuristic and the covert the design in to an implementable design
- Create different fidelity of wireframes
- Present Wireframes to Internal and external stake holders and Incorporate their inputs.
- Define Design Principle for the project to avoid design Conflicts
Design Process
I took a lean approach towards the problem and did a Lean UX workshop with stake holders, Developers, Managers and end users to explore the pain points in current system and the vision of the future system. I synthesized the workshops input and presented it to the stakeholders. Designed the new system based on assumptions, hypotheses, proto-personas and design Principle.
Conducted multiple feedbacks sessions with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and end users
Challenges and Learnings
This was one of the most challenging projects I have worked on so far as it was a redesign of a legacy product with a lot of added functionalities. On one hand there was a user base from some of the biggest oil and gas giants from the word who are trained to do their work in a functional product which is far from usable and do not want to change the way they are working and on the other hand we have the push from the business to revolutionize the way current product works and include identified functionalities to eliminate competition.
Incorporating functionalities that helps to achieve user goals and the business goal was indeed a challenge.
